“Who’s actually responsible for innovation in a company?” asked the HR Director of a large multinational in a conversation with me.
While that’s a good question, the fact that it was asked suggests that there’s still a lot of uncertainty, even fear, around innovation.
The short and simple answer to the question is: everybody.
New ideas aren’t the preserve of one particular group in your company, like your executive team. Sometimes they are the last people to come up with innovative ideas because they overthink things too much and are too concern about following existing procedures.
Has it occurred to you that you are also responsible for innovation in your company? You may not have thought so, but you are. My editorial in this newsletter suggests a few ideas to get you thinking about how your company can start innovating. Your career – and your job – may just depend on it!
