PEOPLE’S CONVENTION INDEPENDENCE PARTY
HON. CHISHIMBA KAMBWILI UTTERANCES TO AN INDIAN CONSTITUTION WORKER IS AN ATTACK ON ALL FOREIGN WORKERS.
PCIP is completely saddened on the outburst of Hon. Kambwili on the Indian construction worker displayed on the video which has taken social media by storm.
I think we have a big crisis in our Country if our public representatives can exhibit their economic frustrations and political bitterness in such unprofessional conduct.
Zambia like any other nations which enjoys bilateral relations with other nations, imports skilled labour and has been practicing this for many years. Zambia, in Particular has benefited from these skills transfer in the form of expatriates in the rail construction, mining, road construction, retail and many other sectors across society. Zambians has and continues to benefit by learning from these expatriates within and outside our national boarders. It is also estimated that 3 percent of Zambian population is working and living in other nations.
But we can not rule out as a nation on illegal migrants who don’t follow government legal processes, our laws only makes provisions to import exceptional skills, like engineers, consultants etc among others, we surely do not accept to import labour which can be filled by our citizens because we have such a high unemployment levels across our country waiting to be employed. we still stand that if found guilty they will be prosecuted or even deported. Hon. Kambwili could have had a point but having worked in Government and knowing very well on processes should have acted accordingly not to provoke international Relations or possible incite xenophobic violence.
My brotherly free advice to him is to exhibit credibility and Wisdom in his leadership as such conduct is one of the elements of political instability in our Country and fuel to the none start of reconciliation of our nation. He must decide whether or not People should address him as Hon. Or Horrible Kambwili.
To fellow Zambians let us know the difference between what we want and what we don’t want and strongly condemn any means of violence as we address our internal problems, the only violence we know is poverty which has to be eradicated with both our hands.
To the international community, Zambia embraces a cordial relationship on friendship, culture, tourism, trade and industry and that they must not be disturbed by such publicity.
As PCIP, we apologize on behalf of Hon. Kambwili as he did not mean to destabilize international Relations or promote racism or xenophobic political storm as Zambia is a peaceful loving rainbow nation.
I thank you.
